Certifications and Pathways to Certification

If you are an aspiring IT professional, one of your goals may be getting Comptia Wireless Certification. There are several reasons for this goal. It is possible that you are interested in pursuing a career as a wireless device or access point. Another reason may be that you have your eye on becoming a certified wireless device administrator. Yet another reason why you might be considering this goal could be because you want to be certified so that you can get a job as a wireless network administrator.

As with any goal you wish to accomplish, it will take you some time to get the required experience and training needed to meet your goal. You do not become competent in networking by sitting in an office doing it. You become qualified by putting in the effort. For this reason, a plan of action is required in order to make sure that you have the time and dedication necessary in order to meet your certification goals.

The first step in this direction should be to put aside a specific amount of time each day for studying for your wireless certification exams. You should spend this time doing the very best quality study that you possibly can. Do not take shortcuts here. Make sure that the pace of your study is steady and consistent.

Once you have committed to your dedicated study schedule, begin making your notes and completing all the required wireless networking courses that are required for successful completion of the Wireless Certified Network Associate (WCA) course. This is a course that covers all of the topics that will be tested on the CCNA Wireless LAN Exam. A certificate will be issued when you successfully complete the entire course. Once you have completed this course, you should then schedule a time to take the Wireless LAN Forum. This is a webinar that is held by Verisign and allows you to get some hands on experience with real people who will be asking questions and giving answers to questions that you have posed to them.

When you attend the forum, make sure that you are prepared with at least five to ten hours of questions so that you can maximize your learning experience. In this way, you will get the most from your time spent there. The next thing you want to do is make sure that you are taking plenty of notes. Remember, wireless certification requires hands on experience and if you do not record yourself speaking, you are not going to have a leg up on the rest of the other students who will be taking the exam.

The next thing you want to do is set aside enough time to familiarize yourself with the latest wireless networking technologies. In particular, you will need to understand how wireless networking works, why it is beneficial, and how to troubleshoot problematic wireless networks. If you do not take the time to familiarize yourself with wireless networking technology, you will have no business attempting to obtain certification with the WNIC. On top of that, any complications that might arise while you are attempting to take the certification test will take precedence over the skills you have learned while taking the course.

Finally, take the time to review all of the material that you have learned during the course. There is no point in rushing through this portion of the process if you cannot get the information you need. Keep track of the amount of time you spend reading each chapter and then use this information to gauge the pace at which you are progressing. If you find yourself having to go back to read information that you did not thoroughly grasp, consider re-reading the material. Keep moving forward at a steady pace and do not allow yourself to become frustrated.

Once you have finished the Comptia Wireless LAN Certifications course, you will be ready to begin your quest to become a certified wireless network specialist. Taking the time to learn all of the basic information associated with wireless networking is the key to passing the certification exam. Knowing how to troubleshoot problematic wireless networks while also developing a solid knowledge base that you can reference back to is important as well. The more time you dedicate to learning about wireless networking, the more comfortable you will become with the technology and the greater your chances are of achieving your certification goals. Once you have completed the course, be sure to review all of the material and get started on developing your personal wireless networking knowledge base.
